Work Schedule*

Daytime Hours: 7:00am–3:30pm, Monday-Friday

Drainage work continues on Route 2 westbound shoulder. Preparations for the work on the Maple Street exit on-ramp and shoulder will also occur. Tree clearing and grubbing continues near the Sutton Avenue eastbound off-ramp.  Temporary illumination and permanent light pole foundations will be installed along Route 2 westbound from the Maple Street exit. Incident Management System (IMS) installation will also begin from the Maple Street westbound on-ramp onto Route 2 westbound.

Nighttime Hours: 7:00pm–6:00am, Sunday-Thursday

Excavation of the Route 2 westbound shoulder continues from the Maple Street westbound on-ramp onto Route 2 westbound. Underground conduit installation will occur across on-ramps in various locations throughout the project limits.

Traffic Impacts

The Maple Street on-ramp (Ramp 5C, East Hartford) to Route 2 westbound (Hartford) is closed until Saturday, June 24, 2021 (weather permitting). This closure is being implemented to provide increased safety to the traveling public while facilitating construction work on DOT Project number 0042-0317. Message boards and signage will be posted for the detour route. Please see detour route below:

The detour route for the Maple Street on-ramp to Route 2 WB will be as follows:

• Travel westbound on Maple Street
• Turn right on Main Street and continue north
• Turn right onto Sutton Avenue
• Turn left onto Cambridge Street
• Straight onto Route 2 WB On-ramp towards Hartford

Travel lanes beginning at Maple Street are temporary reduced from 12ft to 11ft while shoulder work is underway.
