7/14/2022 Press Release – Temporary Closure of the High Street On-Ramp (Exit 5A) to Route 2 Eastbound in the Town of East Hartford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the temporary ramp closure of the High Street On-Ramp (Exit 5A)to Route 2 Eastbound beginning on August 7, 2022, weather permitting. 

The temporary ramp closure of the High Street On-Ramp (Exit 5A) toRoute 2 EB is necessary as part of the safety and operational improvements on Route 2 in East Hartford, Hartford, and Glastonbury. The temporary ramp closure is being implemented to safely facilitate the reconstruction of the ramp acceleration lane.  

DOT Project No. 0042-0317 was awarded to Empire Paving at the cost of $61,786,112.84 on April 5, 2021 and is scheduled to be complete in August of 2024.  This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

DETOUR INFO The High Street On-Ramp (Exit 5A) to Route 2 Eastbound will be closed from July 24, 2022 to August 14, 2022, weather permitting.  Traffic will be detoured onto Carter Street, then onto Main Street, then onto Maple Street, and finally onto Route 2 Eastbound
